Eldest, The Movie?!

Eragon, the movie is a big disappointment, it was a shame because it is really a good book. It didn’t do well in cinemas. Many events on the book were not included in the movie. Most of the movie goers who loved the movie maybe because they didn’t read the book. Good for them.

Updated (July 17, 2008): The fan made video I posted here was deleted by Youtube. Here’s another fan made video. There’s no official announcement if Eldest will become a movie. Should or shouldn’t they make Eragon, the movie?

i believe they should make a movie out of eldest but dont leave out as much info as they did in eragon.

  • omi

omg i dont think that eragon was a BIG disappointment as you say it is… i mean it did pretty well… they could have gotten a better eragon but i think over all it was a good movie… and i did read the book and they didnyt really leave out a hole lot… so give them a break.

  • Charity

i love the movie eragon but that is also because i have never read the book. i can watch that movie over and over, i hope tha tthat they make eldest the movie/

  • I guess, youtube have deleted the video. I love the trailer, I’m looking forward to eldest the movie.

  • malief

the eragon movie SUCKS!!!!!!!!! The book is great though, and I think they should make another BETTER eragon movie…and if the new one will be at least decent, they should make Eldest too…

  • sarah

they left The Twins out and m. didnt die dont tell me it was a good movie

I read the books. I read Eragon 4 and a half times before the movie (tried to read it again before going to see it but that never happened – I thought this way I could remember events and stuff and compare. There was no need in the end o_o)… I read Eldest once…
I found it was a good movie. I mean, IN COMPARISON TO THE BOOK, the movie… it sucked. It sucked ass and screwed over a great book.
IF IT IS NOT COMPARED TO THE BOOK, this movie was great. My mom saw it with me and loved it and she never read the book. I enjoyed it because I could easily just not compare the book to the movie because that ruined it for me. And if you think about it, doesn’t comparing a book to a movie ruin the experience for you? OF COURSE the movie will be different from the book because it’s someone else’s imagination of how things looked and their variation of it before you.

    But with this sequel stuff…
They can’t do it. I’m sorry, but it’s not possible. Really. They screwed over the actual storyline of Eragon so badly they can’t stick to the Eldest storyline whatsoever. Katrina wasn’t there (I don’t count deleted scenes), Jeod wasn’t there, Solembum, Angela (she wasn’t in Furthen Dur), what Roran really planned on doing when he left, the twins weren’t there (again, I don’t count the deleted scenes), Murtagh wasn’t kidnapped (but I think that happened in the beginning of Eldest…), et cetera.
If they do make it into a movie, all they’ll be doing is taking a book title, SOME of the characters, and half the settings (again). That’s it. They’re on their own, they need to make up their own story if they want Eldest to be a movie. It won’t work any other way.
I don’t think it should be made into a movie because it’ll be a huge disappointment story-wise since they’ll be making theirs up and it won’t be nearly as good as the real thing. Possibly. Depends, I didn’t like the Eldest book all that much cause I found it dragged and stuff

That’s my opinion on this xD I’ve argued it constantly with my friend who never read the book yet thinks it’s TOTALLY possible and SHOULD be made a movie.

I discovered the Eragon and Eldest stories as audio books. I saw the books in bookstores and my local Wal-Mart when they were first released. The cover artwork caught my eye but merchandised; as a child’s book, was a turnoff.

Because I spend a lot of time driving each day I found audio books a good way to pass the long hours on the road. I started with books on tape, them moved up to books on CD. Now I’ve joined a audio book club and are downloading the books to my mp3 player. I now carry thirty unabridged novels with me at all times. I’m into sci-fi in a big way. Dune, Star Wars and Star Trek being my main multiple listens. In January of this year I went on line looking for something new when Eragon caught my eye again. The web site offered a sample, which turned to be most of the prolog to the book. Right then and there I downloaded the first book. Eldest was downloaded the same day I finished Eragon. So far I’ve listened to the books six times. With each listen I discover new treasures within the story I didn’t pick up on before. Now with the impending release of Brisingr I have started my seventh journey into the Eragon’s world.

Now for the movie Eragon; or should I say the total slaughter of one of the best stories around. It was evident the writers never read the book. They must have only looked at a summary of the story prepared by a fifth grader. The casting director should loose his/her job for the mess they did. Eragon and Brom were good choices but the rest. . . . Angela, was the worst casting of them all.

I would like to see the Sci-Fi Channel take on the story of Eragon. Tell the story in the miniseries, format. There is so much humor in the story that was never even hinted at in the movie. And how about the middle half of the story that was tossed into the trash? The Elves and Dwarves were the backbone of the story and their stories were cut.

If the big wigs that produced the Eragon Movie, were to take on Eldest, they would botch that story beyond recognition as they did with Eragon.

Our only hope is that the Sci-Fi Channel would take on the project. Until they do we still have the story in the purest form ; the written words of Christopher Paolini.

I’m now counting the days to the release of Brisingr.

even though the movie was completely flawed by the constnt errors according to the book but the movie did rather well..it would’ve been different if they had a bad movie and a bad connection with the book…all in all…FOX…redo the movie

  • Tharupathi

Actually when I read the book and saw the movie Eragon I thought whether I just bought a cinema copy but no, many important characters have been left out in the film like Katrina, the bald twins and the absence of Orik! I’m very dissapointed but i hope the Eldest movie wll be great and be produced by a good director.

  • I dont agree that the movie was rubbish, it was good, i’ve read eragon, eldest and now on brisingr. I’d love for them to make eldest because otherwise what they say about that “tommorow will come sooner than you think” or something like that just makes me want to watch Eldest! Make It lol!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Brandi

I just read the first 3 books and look forward to the 4th. I watched the Eragon movie and was disapointed. If Harry Potter can be made so well, than so should these. Please make Eldest and don’t be afraid to spend some money. We fans, new and old, will be there!

  • jimmy

i agree eragon was a disappointment if you have read the book.i think the movie could have been better. if they make eldest they should remake the eragon and add some more parts in to it so that when eldest comes out..if it dose.. then some things will be covered.

  • Maxi

I saw the movie and I’m reading the book right now. They missed alot of parts but I’m certain that they should make a movie out of “Eldest” The books are AWESOME and the movie is really good, that why I started reading the series.

  • Adam

The movie completely blew compared to do the book. BUT here is the thing, they were betting on the fact that about 60% of the people who were going to see the movie had never read the book (it makes me sick when a noob posts saying “oh yea the movie rocked”) well NO THE MOVIE SUCKED. but it was a good move for the…general audience, thank God Brisingr was a good book :P

  • Kendra H

I read the book and saw the movie… the movie was disapointing but i did like graghic in it. it was like the same charaters but a diffrent story… but people you have to remenber, ther arn’t that many enjoyable dragon-friendy movies now a days and that makes me a little disapointed as well. Personaly i do hope Eldest comes out, it might encourage some people to re-pick up the great books of the adventurs of Eragon and Saphira. ^.^

  • bre

i think Eragon was a good movie but they could have put a lot more of what happened in the book in the movie i hope they do that with Eldest

  • amy

I loved the book…but the movie sucked so bad!!! They shouldn’t make an Eldest one. They are just going to screw it up more!!

  • Evan

The problem is, it is almost impossible to make Eldest even remotely based on the book. Over half of Eldest was wiped out with the movie Eragon. If you haven’t read the book, then its a great show and you would definitely enjoy it. anyone who has read the book absolutely hates the movie. The only real thing that stayed the same was the fact that a teenage farmer finds an egg and becomes a Dragon Rider. Go nuts.

  • Elisabeth

Bah! all of you people who say that the movie was ausome make me sick! The movie sucked. It sucked to high heaven. I didn’t realize it at first, but then I reread the book. They made Angela into a total freak! She was my favorite character! They left out Orik and Jeod, they were also my favorite characters! Whoever directed this and/or wrote the screenplay should be ashamed of themselves. They left so many holes in the Eragon movie that even thinking about making an ausome Eldest movie that even half resembles the book will be almost imposible. I say almost because they could make Eldest into a movie IF they redo Eragon. Okay, I think that I’ve ranted enough, and my opion has been made clear.

  • carla

I belive the film Eldest is better than Eragon, but they can put a black hair in arya…
Well,in Brazil, you know when the film come?
