Automatic (SQL) Database Backup

Blogging is not simple especially if you self hosted your blog. The common mistake is not backing up database or SQL files regularly. What if your blog suddenly disappear? Bad things happen but we should never neglect our obligation to our blog among other things. But backing up database is also time consuming when you have many tasks to do. I only have 4 hours a day on my PC, 2 hours spent on entrecard dropping for my 2 blogs and 2 hours for blogging. There’s no more time for me logging in to my database to back it up.

Actually, I found a simple solution. I used a plugin few months back. I didn’t post it here because I’m still testing it. Now, I recommend it to all bloggers I know and decided to make a post about it to spread the word. It is called WP-DBmanager and you can download it here.

Its compatible with wordpress version 2.5 and above. I’m using wordpress 2.6.1 and it still works. Actually, I lost my site, it is currently hosted at bluehost. With reliable support of bluehost and with SQL backup made by this plugin, I guess, my site will be gone forever. Actually, it doesn’t matter what host account you have as long you always backup your database. I highly recommend to use the plugin, it supports manual backup, automatic backup (input the right settings in DB Options on your wp admin panel, I set it up every 3 days), restore backup, email database, download database, repair database (haven’t tried yet) and many more.

If you need more quality time on blogging without disregarding your database backup, using this plugin is another option.
