The Entrecard Chain Drops Stopped
Entrecard is the popular social network nowadays to most bloggers, there are many reasons why and I don’t think its appropriate to this article. Anyway, I do practice chain dropping to sites I reciprocate. And just like others, I have to stop to a certain point.
When do the entrecard chain dropping stops?
- When the blog displayed its own image – This is when I clicked the widget and sent me to the same site. To newbies, the advantage of having two sites is to advertise on the one who doesn’t feature any site on his widget and vise versa.
- When the site loads slowly – Time is gold, right? I can drop a few more to other sites than wait to site to load. I don’t want others to think just like me, I make it sure that my site loads in enough time.
- When I already dropped on the featured blog – This is different to the first one. Some blogs are “blessed” with many entrecard credits and afford to buy ads to many other sites. Sometimes, I do click it and see the word “thanks” or “1 per day”to the widget.
- When the site is unavailable – Its self explanatory, how can you drop to site that have been removed, under maintenance or whatever. They’ve placed their ad when their site was still running.
- When there’s no entrecard widget on the site – I hate it when I found some site that bother to place ads on other sites when they didn’t place one on their site. You know what? I did bother to report them to entrecard admin. I found it unfair to those who religiously drop their cards on regular basis. I hope you agree with me on this.
- When the widget is hard to find – Call me impatient if you want but if you encountered a site full of images and widgets on the left and right sidebar, you can never tell. Ok, I do wait for a while if I find the site is loading slow especially if the site is the direct dropper to my site. But it is really irritating (forgive me for the word I used) searching for entecard buried in other images.
- When you reach the 300 drop limit – LOL!

Sometimes they forgot to install it after a template change, I will try to send them a message.

Will reciprocate, won’t come back again unless I need to reciprocate.
When you reach the 300 drop limit
I will copy down their url and drop on them when my drop limit is reset.

We almost have the same move on most of the situations, except for 5th one. if you found a site on your chain droping, there’s no way to find the owner unless look to the members list. Whew! That’s a lot of work. But I did that one time.

I did found couple of sites on my chain dropping, adult sites. I did stop but if the site drop on my site, i still receiprocate the drop but didn’t chain dropped. I’ll be adding this one, thanks for this one.

I am normally not against it but when a blog has a lot of swearing and bad language i quickly ctrl-w it.
And when a blog steals content I report it and never visit again.

I usually practice selective chain drops. Usually I tend to reciprocate drops on my widget while chain dropping, but for the most part returning a drop takes precident. If you take the time to visit me and drop your card I feel it is only fair to return the favour. I try to reciprocate but when the first time you log on and see that 100+ people have dropped it is hard to get everyone. Usually while I’m returning drops some peoples ads look very appealling and those are usually the ones I start a chain of drops with.
What usually annoys me the most when chain dropping is the number of blogs with out the widget or buried on a page that doesn’t link to the one they provided to Entrecard. It’s really annoying when your reciprocating as well. Glad to know that I’m not the only one annoyed by that.

Oyvind – same here, I don’t like blogs full of bad words especially the blog post titles. If its the direct dropper on my site, I wil reciprocate and if its not, then the dropping stops.
Christian – I do place an advert if the site is my regular dropper, so the chain dropping doesn’t stop there.
Majik – Through chain dropping, I’ve memorized the site’s avatar who doesn’t display ec widget. Reporting them to ec admin wasn’t enough. Lets be vigilant on accepting ec ads.
