Entrecard Economy… Economics? Getting Better?

I was about to logout last night when I received the email from Entrecard regarding the many significant changes in entrecard. Actually, I was one who commented early. (comment #26, duh…)

At first glance, it saddened me… no more selling of my extra EC credits since it was included in the TOS now:

Members are not allowed to sell credits: This goes for ebay sales, posts in the Marketing forum, and posts on other forums. If you have references on your site to the sale of credits, please remove them immediately, as it is now against our terms.

I removed my paypal donate button on Entrecard Credits For Sale post and removed the link of that post below my EC widget. I love EC and don’t want to be banned. The good old trading days is over but looking forward to the new advertising price. It is a known fact that placing an advert to highest “price in credits” blog doesn’t mean that its worth it or will give you tremendous traffic. I doubt if the law of supply and demand applies to old advertising price.

Google PageRank Update Again (September 2008)

There is ongoing PageRank update again, too soon because we just had PR update two months ago. I noticed it on my Google toolbar showing this site a PR2 now. Anyway, the PR will be stable in a few days. I don’t know if migrating my blog from GoDaddy to Bluehost contributed to this.

Which reminds me, last month I removed a certain unnecessary category. As you can see, I’m using the custom permalink /%category%/%postname%/ so I maybe lose some backlinks for doing that even if I’m using a redirect plugin.

Hoping for a better outcome soon. How is everyone making out in this update? I wish its a false alarm, happy blogniversary to my blog.

Glitch's 1st Anniversary Contest

Happy BirthdayMobile eBooks Etc started in September 12, 2007 with the first post “Why Glitch?” but my permalink is hello world 2. :D It was indeed a simple post, for the sake of making an initial post. That time, I wasn’t new to blogging stuff since I moblog (mobile blog) way back in year 2004 with contents related also to mobile ebooks. My old blog provider became too unreliable because of many blog hackers. That’s a long and different story.

Blogging in the real blogosphere is a never ending process. I became preoccupied learning the “basics of blogging”. Actually, I started blogging at wordpress.com and eventually got the PR5 until I decided to moved to my own domain and a web host, January 8, 2008. Obviously, I lost my PageRank and got a PR4 last May 1 and become a PR3 two months ago. Looking back and analyzing how am I doing on blogging about mobile ebooks and other related stuff, I could say that I learned a lot from my mistakes, gained friends, share what I have but as I’ve said blogging is a never ending process. This blog is still my baby and my “guinea pig”. LOL

I am not a full time blogger, I have my personal blog, glitchline which happens to be updated every 2-3 days just like this blog and used to be on blogspot. Since this month is my 1st year anniversary, I don’t have much to give but a domain name and link ads. If your blog provider is blogspot, this is your chance to have your own domain. Your chosen domain name depends on the availability.

***copy from here***
Prizes at stake:
1st prize – a domain name (convertible to cash)
2nd price – 125×125 ad at Mobile eBooks for 1 month
3rd price – 125×125 ad at glitchline for 1 month
4th prize – txt link ad at Mobile eBooks for 1 month
5th prize – txt link ad at glitchline for 1 month

Mechanics:

  1. Blog about the contest indicating the prizes and link to this post, a link to Mobile eBooks Etc and to glitchline = 6 points
  2. Blog your reaction on any post you find relevant on your blog with a link to that post from mobile eBooks and glitchline = 4 points (minimum 100 words and don’t copy my post)
  3. Comment on any of my posts on Mobile eBooks and glitchline = 1 point (Comments are moderated, post a relevant comment and you earn a point)

***end***

Take note:
Blog should be a “legitimate” blog.
Winners will be announced on October 1, 2008.
No follow links will not earn you points.
Comment to this post if you joined the contest.
Contest runs for two weeks only.
Bloggers who want to donate prizes on this small contest are welcome and will be acknowledge on this post.

I haven’t thought that I could reach my 1st blog birthday. There were times that I became too busy of my private life and can’t even think of a better post related to my niche. Help me improve more by joining my mini contest. Good luck!

Update (9-26-08):
There are few more days to the contest deadline. Please check on your dofollow links so I can count your points otherwise your comments are your only points. Also, make sure that you click on the title to get the right contest post link and without the #more on the link.

Here’s the list of counted posts with 6 points each: (nofollow for now, a separate dofollow post for the winners on Oct. 1)

To those who didn’t know that I have ongoing contest, they also earned points for commenting on my blogs.

Update (9-30-08): There are few more hours left, there’s still plenty of time for additional points and for those who still want to join. I will post the winners tomorrow at 12nn Philippine time. Good luck.

N70, AdMob's Top Smartphone For August

admob

n70me
AdMob’s latest mobile metric report for the month of August revealed the following:

  • Nokia had 62.4 percent of worldwide smartphone traffic in August, with more than 50 percent in every region except North America. In the US, Nokia does not have a top 20 ranked smartphone.
  • RIM is in second place worldwide with 10.8 percent of smartphone traffic with the large majority of that coming from North America. RIM leads in the US with 31.2 percent of smartphone traffic and manufactures three of the top 10 devices.
  • The top five smartphones in the US – the BlackBerry Pearl, Palm Centro, BlackBerry Curve, Apple iPhone, and Samsung Instinct – generated 12.9 percent of all US traffic in August, a 2.4 percent increase over July.

I checked on the August AdMob Mobile Metric report, I’m interested on the top mobile brand and model worldwide.

From GoDaddy To BlueHost

No, you’re not lost. New template? Yes, have to change my template, the old one has many errors already or sort of not compatible with the latest wordpress version. Sorry if my header didn’t match my blog content, I will change it soon. I like the simplicity of this one and planning to personalize it again.

Its not that I upgraded to wordpress version 2.6.2 easily but I finally moved this blog from GoDaddy to BlueHost. Goodbye for now, GoDaddy. I never mentioned my old host before so its finally revealed now. Its not that GoDaddy sucks, my site never been down. Thumbs up for that. But… bloggers need reliable customer support anytime of the day. I feel like I’m wasting my time emailing them when something goes wrong on my site. Plus it takes time waiting for their response.
