Google PageRank Update (July 2008)
My google toolbar shows that I’m now PR3 from previous PR4 for Mobile eBook Etc since May, 2008.
A short history of my PageRank: Started blogging at WordPress.com last September and got a PR5. Moved to my own domain last January, my PageRank obviously became PR0 because of the new domain. And eventually got my PR4 last May. And now its a PR3, sometimes its PR1. Penalized? Slapped by Google? Maybe… and I seldom concentrated on my inbound links.
A slapped by Big G obviously is a warning for paid links. I don’t have that much like others do. In fact, I can still count them on my fingers. Nevertheless, they are just there to maintain my site and I don’t like to post articles not related to mobile ebooks, ebook conversion, mobile application, mobile lifestyle, blogging and internet. Lesson learned again, this time the hard way and I don’t wanna slapped again.
On the other hand, my personal blog, glitchline still doesn’t have PR until now. I guess, I have to reconstruct that blog.
How is everyone making out in this update?

Reviewing Top Web Sites
Ever thought of what are the top websites? Many sites are claiming to be one of the leading websites but how can we know which of them belong to the top websites. We need to know the statistics, traffic stats, page rank, alexa rank as well as site reviews from other people. Good thing there is a website like TalkReviews that provides the necessary information.
Feel free to add your website, share your views or check on the top 500 websites.
Speed Up WordPress 2.6
As I saw my dashboard this morning, WordPress 2.6 is officially released July 15 to US but July 16 to my location, a month earlier to expected August 2008 release. I instantly decided to update my wordpress 2.5.1 without knowing the added features. I admit, I don’t want to be left behind and updating wordpress version is kinda addicting. LOL. I didn’t even made a back-up.
You can read the WordPress 2.6 features to this link. After uploading the files and database upgrade, of course I looked for changes on my dashboard. Haven’t found any yet but noticed the “turbo” link at the upper right corner of admin panel.
Here’s what I saw after clicking the turbo link:

Wordpress now has support for Gears which adds new features to web browser. hmnn… sounds a major change so I installed and enabled Gears. Then I clicked it once again to see what will happen next.
I had an error, it says:
“Local Storage Status: Error: Download of ‘http://www.ebooktechie.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/themes/advanced/skins/default/img/menu-arrow.gif returned response code 404“.
I checked on my web host and saw that I haven’t upload such folder. So I upload it and reclick “turbo”. Now it says:
“Local storage status: Updated completed.”
So, I guess, there are no more problems. I’m impressed. Looking forward for future wordpress upgrades, I told you, this is addicting. LOL

Other Top Droppers On My Favorites
I have a house guest yesterday and I missed entrecard dropping. I thought, its a wise idea to share what I do to reciprocate efficiently and never miss a site to reciprocate. As we all know we are allowed to 300 drops daily on each blog and I have two blogs.
I start dropping to my co-recipro droppers first. Switch to my other blog and drop to co-recipro droppers again. I do drop on my linked blog, the drop serves as my starting point. Then, dropped to my top 25 droppers and begin reciprocating from the miss day. Sites I haven’t drop were temporarily added to my favorites.
Guess what? I found more sites not included to my top droppers but have 20 and more drops on my site. I thought, they are loyal droppers, so I might as well leave them permanently on my favorites, as long as I have 20 drops from them for the past 30 days.
So, what will I do to my favorites? They will received regular drops from now on, I hope they will also reciprocate. In the future, if I received the perfect drop like my top droppers, they deserve to be added to my technorati favorites and might as well subscribe to their feeds. Linking to their blog to thank them is another thing.
As of now, I have 32 favorites and didn’t include my co-recipro droppers (no need to add my daily drops, this is another list). I don’t know if there are more since I start editing my favorites now. Want to be added? Continue dropping…

Read Web Host Reviews Before Changing
I’ll be renewing my web host again next month. I’m tired of renewing my webhost quarterly so I guess, I’m ready for a long term payment scheme now.
I’m planning to move to another webhost because I’m not satisfied with their customer support. I mentioned that last May when I renewed my account. The host is good for beginners simply because they’re the only webhost I know that charges monthly fees. What I want now is to enjoy features and services I haven’t experienced from my current host.
I could try every webhost recommended by my co-bloggers but I don’t want to waste my time for “trial and errors”. I’ve checked on web hosting reviews and proved that my current webhost is not included in their top ten webhost list. I hope I’m not making a mistake on choosing my future webhost next month. It won’t be on #1 rank if its not the best.
