Mobile Application

Comobi Works Again!

Good news to comobi users, it’s working again. If I wasn’t mistaken, comobi was the most favorite mobile application of filipinos who loves free stuff way back in 2006.

What is comobi? CoMobi is a mobile application, which allows direct connection between two users of smart devices. In order to establish the connection, the smart solution uses the full capacity of the data channel of the mobile operator. CoMobi is optimized for GSM/GPRS networks and could be easily customized for 3G networks.

Comobi Features:
Live Chat – allows prepaid users to chat with their friends provided that other party is also using a 3G device with compatible comobi application installed.

Share Files – sharing of files between two comobi users. Send pictures, audios, videos, games, ebooks, themes, ebooks and other mobile files in an instant.

Free – You read it right. Prepaid users are not charge for live chat or sending of file using comobi provided that you have the proper connection settings in globe prepaid sim. Last year, I received an information that comobi did work using smart prepaid sim. I haven’t tried it using smart.

Interesting? In able to initiate the comobi connection, you need another application, IP Viewer. Open first your default browser, make a connection and leave it open. Open IP Viewer, view your ip. Send your ip to other comobi user. If he connects to your ip, communication begins. The moment the default browser closes its connection, comobi will be disconnected. It is better to refresh the unit before engaging in a comobi session.

Again, both party should have GPRS capable devices and compatible comobi installed on the handheld device.

Download eBooks using fget

fget1.JPGSometimes, downloading a file directly on our mobile phone sounds complicated to others. That depends on the mobile phone we are using, depends on the mobile’s operating system, depends on the memory are the common reasons.

There was a time that I need to download an ebook file but I’ve just formatted my mobile. I have limited access to computer at that time. Most ebooks comes in big file size, sometimes downloading them through your built-in browser (depends on the size) would cost you unreasonable price. If you’re unlucky, the connection will stop and made your download incomplete.

Back Up Your Contacts

Need to transfer your contacts from one mobile phone to another? Most of the time, I’ve encountered people saying that they’ve accidentally deleted an important contact or in some way they’ve lost their contacts. It made me wonder, they’re using a 3G phone or maybe a symbian 60 phone and yet they haven’t heard of this mobile application.

We cannot use mobile as a form of communication if we don’t have contacts on our phone book, right? Just like our mobile files, we also need to back them up. Contacts are more important than our files, copying them on our sim card wasn’t enough. Sim cards have limited memory.

This application wasn’t new to me, I’ve been using this mobile application for a long time and haven’t found any application better than this one. Backup Contacts v1.10 is a freeware and long time available in the market.

Import All – retrieve contacts from your backup file

  1. Open Bkup Contacts, click “export All”

  3. Type the filename, click ok.
