LIT A Book!

burned bookWould you lit a book? Nah! I’m just in a playful mood to make the title sounds unusual. Even if I consider myself as an eBook addict, I still do read paperbacks and I still keep my collection. Btw, the image at the right is courtesy of ala.org. Moving to a self hosted blog is not that easy, it took time to figure things out… plugins, settings, template customization etc. Actually, I’m not yet done. Anyway, I’ve been browsing my archives and realized that I still have several articles left unpost. Let me start  with eBook formats.

There are various eBook formats, LIT is also among the popular ones. I believed that it is secondary to PDF format. LIT files are “only” readable using Microsoft Reader software. Microsoft Reader is available for download from Microsoft as a free program. Free software is available for Windows Vista, Windows XP Tablet Edition, Windows 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP, Pocket PC 2002, Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0. You can download you free software here, click the download button at the left sidebar and choose the right software.

However, unlike PDF files, it is impossible to read a LIT eBook files on symbian phones. The only way we can do so is to convert LIT files to formats compatible to our mobile eBook reader. Its a fact that secondary to PDF files, there are many eBooks in LIT format available in the internet. I would rather convert an ebook than search for another eBook format which is time consuming.
