Chronicles Of Narnia: Chronological Book Order?

This was the common question I’ve received last 2005 from my mobile blog, the chronological order of The Chronicles Of Narnia, book series by CS Lewis. It was the year the first movie, “The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe” was about to shown, most bloggers wanted to read the series first. If we are going to follow the year it was published, the order should be like this:

  1. The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe (1950)
  2. Prince Caspian (1951)
  3. The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader (1952)
  4. The Silver Chair (1953)
  5. The Horse And His Boy (1954)
  6. The Magician’s Nephew (1955)
  7. The Last Battle (1956)

The readers got confused when they’ve got to know the other reading order of the series. I’ve read that too making the “Magician’s Nephew” as the first book and rearanging the reading order. They’ve asked me which one did I follow. I followed the publishing order listed above. I believed the movie series will follow that too.

  • interesting, i didn’t know this is the chronological order. i read the series 6 years ago. all the editions i see of this series always start with the magician’s nephew, probably because it’s a prequel of sorts.

There are lots of websites saying that the “Magician’s Nephew” is the first book. The boy who wrote CS Lewis regarding the chronological order. I believe CS Lewis was just polite writing back to that boy. Anyway, whatever order they follow, I’ll stick to the published date order.

  • hmmm… how was the book sis? thrilling than the movie?

Ahehe. Actually, I always prefer the book version. Since it was written in ‘50 and the movie was in 2005… I love the movie and looking forward for more movie series. :D
