I was too busy lately with my kids, its summer and school vacation in the Philippines. Last March, I was thinking of how can I update my personal blog during summer since time stamp is not a problem here at Mobile eBook Etc on wordpress. Actually, I’m still thinking if migrating my other blog here at wordpress is a good idea but permalink will be a problem. I want to maintain the same links I have there so readers will not be lost.
Going back, time stamp is the term commonly used by wordpress bloggers, it is also known as scheduled post publishing. It means a blogger can already set a date when the entry should be posted. The usual routine for me at my personal blog is to have several drafts in my dashboard and I have to login to my account to publish an article. Just imagine if you’re in vacation, you have to left for a while just to publish your article. For me, scheduled post at blogspot is indeed good news. I just hope that they will be more improvements to come.
Two years of blogging at my moblog somehow gave me a great feeling, a feeling of self satisfaction for helping out the new generation of bookworms to their mobile ebook needs. The mobile ebook addicts are different individuals with different personalities. I don’t have to please everybody but I could say that mobile ebook is our common denominator. Looking back, I already made friends from moblog until I shifted to real blogging last year.
I started blogging at wordpress.com. To improved my blog and in able to belong to the new world of blogging for me, I always do blog hopping until I stumbled an article that explains the many possibilities of blogging while earning at the same time. I worked hard on my free blog which in two months got the PR5. What’s missing in the article I’ve read was that there’s no way I can get paid to blog with my free blog. It was then that I decided to have my own domain last January.
I’ve been writing here my experiences on mobile ebook, mobiles, ebook conversion and blogging. Techie stuff is not that easy to compose compared to other categories. At one point from my free blog, a commentor mistaken my blog for posting paid links. Although at that time, I didn’t know that its possible, I explained that the mobile websites that I linked were legitimate links to show information sources.
I’m aware that Big G had penalized blogs for posting sponsored reviews. I want to be as honest as possible, I want to maintain my site as long as I can but I have to earn to cover my blogging expenses and maintain this site. I’ll be posting some reviews occasionally provided that its related to my niche.
September 12 last year, I started blogging at wordpress.com and got a PR5. As I continuously updating my blog, I eventually realized that I have to moved my blog to my own domain, ebooktechie.com last January 8 this year. Actually, I did had a second thought on having my own domain that time, its hard to start again from scratch,to a PR0. I have to take the risk, move now (that time) than be sorry in the future. From January to present, I was waiting for google pagerank update.
Anyway, a friend congratulate me this morning. He informed me that my blog shows a PR4 on his google toolbar but its impossible for me to check it on my computer until tonight when we got home after watching the movie “Iron Man”. It didn’t showed on my IE google toolbar so I made a little googling for PageRank update. Court answers his comments as fast as he could, he informed me that my blog shows a PR4 and the sandbox doesn’t affect visible PR – it affects rankings only.
Sandbox still confuses me, I have to find a working PR checker button for now.
Its been almost a month when WordPress 2.5 was released, WordPress 2.5.1 is now available to fix annoying bugs and security. Who doesn’t want to secure our blog? We always heard news and even saw some of our favorite blogs got hacked and the recent blog that saddens me was co-reciprodropper Arnold of Chalk Is Cheap. I don’t know if its the version he was using or what but the bottom line here is security.
Other than security protection, the problem I’ve encountered since I’ve upgraded ebooktechie.com to wordpress 2.5 was the visual editor which I forgot to mention to my post, WordPress 2.5 Errors was my visual editor of my write post. Its only now that I saw that I forgot to upload some files for that. Imagine from the time being, I’ve been using html editor and just use the “preview this post” new feature of wordpress 2.5. Well. lessons learned already.
WordPress always surprises me, I’ve blog last month the fresh color scheme of the admin panel that was hard on my eyes. Now, I really love using the fresh color scheme at my admin panel. I hope, wordpress would come up with another sets of color schemes on their next upgrade.
Everytime I had to update my wordpress, I always had butterflies on my tummy, always in doubt that I might miss something, somewhere and get errors or loose my files which actually happened on my visual editor. Its a rule of thumb to backup database before upgrade which I always did. Anyway, better upgrade than sorry to get rid of the over 70 errors of wordpress 2.5.
What is raccoon doing on my phone? Raccoon is a mobile application that works for S60 (symbian 60) 2nd edition and probably will work on any FP3 device like 6630, 6680, N70 and N90. It will not work on a vanilla 2nd edition or FP1 device (6600 or earlier models). When Raccoon is successfully installed and configured on the phone, it serves as mobsite (mobile site) to your friends in your country. My friends in moblog and I used this application to share mobile application, ebooks and other files that we have on our phone. It’s like you’re hosting a website on your phone.
I’ve received a SMS from a friend, informed me that raccoon do works again after 2 years that Globe Telecoms blocked it. Let me share the information I’ve posted from my old moblog, dated August 6, 2006. Consider this article as a guide who want to explore more the power of your mobile phone.
Order of installation:
python.sis
raccoon.sis
httpdconf_pm.sis if you installed raccoon.sis to your phone memory OR httpdconf_mc.sis if you installed it to your mmc
webcontent.sis to the same location as the previous sis files
How to use it:
open raccoon
option
settings
set portal port to zero (the rest, no need to change even the identifier and password)
How to make raccoon work (default page)?
Open fexplorer
moved all your files you want to be seen on your mobsite page to e:apache/htdocs/
exit fexplorer (Thats why it would be better if you installed all raccoon and python files on your memory card)
Close all opened application
Open raccoon
Start cellular
Choose gprs or inet connection
Open ipviewer, ur ip would be your url. ex. http://10.30.4.109:80
If you want to see your default page, open your built in browser without exiting raccoon
connect to 127.0.0.1 – you will see now your default page
How to customize your mobsite?
Open fexplorer > go to e:apache/htdocs/index.html > option > file > open with > application > change default to notes > save
Open again index.html > the file should open to notes > save
Go to menu and open notes > open the most recent file > edit > filename should be the same as the title > html code and color code guide is uploaded at my site, use it as reference to personalize your mobsite
after editing, send it as mms to 1
go to fexplorer again > open inbox (the one below z:(rom) or search the file to c: or e:system/mail > copy the .txt file and paste it to e:apache/htdocs > rename it to your desired name with .html ex. kulit.html > do step (1) and change notes to opera, save > click again the file and you will see now your output

How to know your mobsite address?
Open raccoon
start cellular
choose inet or gprs
open ip viewer
you will see at the lowest part of the page your IP
your addy now would be your IP+kulit.html. ex. http://10.30.4.109:80/kulit.html
You can send it to your friends, have them connect using 3rd party browser and inet connection
How to send a single file using raccoon?
Get the IP and the exact filename using IP viewer. The format would be like this http://10.30.4.109:80/Python.S60.1stEd.v1.31.zip Your friend can use default browser, opera or fget to download the file using gprs or inet connection.
NOTE: This entry is based on my experience using my 6630. I will try if I can browse on the mobsite using PC if its possible next time.
