I could say that the best format for mobile phones is definitely repligo, no contest to that. Repligo viewers for different devices are totally free to download with no expiration unlike other eBook readers. Repligo file has extension name of rgo, some got confused when they encountered this kind of file type.
The new generation of bookworms will definitely agree with me, rgo indeed is the “almost” perfect format for handheld devices. Almost perfect because with the repligo viewer, its impossible to change the font color (unless the unconverted original file has colored font), font style, background color and the application is compatible to limited handheld devices.
Repligo files are converted from Adobe Acrobat (pdf), Microsoft Word (doc), Rich Text Format (rtf), powerpoint, web page (html) etc. This is the reason why the application cannot change its font color, font style and background color… because it depends on the original format. Whatever the original format it was, when converted into repligo format the quality is still the same and optimized for small screen viewing. Isn’t that great?
If its an eBook, book cover image is sometimes at the first page if you download it somewhere.
How to use it? Install repligo viewer on your MMC or memory card, then restart your handheld device or mobile phone. Open FExplorer, create a folder on your MMC or drive E:\ and name it as “Documents”. Save your rgo files to this folder. The default folder of repligo is folder Documents, you can change it to settings if you want. I prefer to use this folder to organize different formats of eBooks on my mobile phone.
Mobile Settings:
Flowed - For font size settings
Zoom – For image viewing
Go to page – For instant page turning. You can also see the current page and how many pages it have
Rotation – For landscape or default viewing
Find – Search a keyword just in case you lose your page. e.g. chapter 12
Send- You can send your file via bluetooth
When you exit the application, don’t worry. You don’t have to scroll down to the last page where you left off like other ebook application. And when you open the application, it will automatically direct you to the last page you’ve stopped. I became loyal to this mobile ebook application especially when I discovered a forum wherein you can download as many files as you want provided that you’re a member of that forum. Its a sad thing though because the site was gone already…
You can download a free repligo viewer, please do check the compatible handheld devices.
WOMEN’S MURDER CLUB SNEAK PREVIEW
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWZqodTCvac]
This is my favorite detective series by James Patterson, basically its about woman power. The lead character is Lt. Lindsay Boxer, a homicide detective developed a strong friendship with an assistant district attorney, a journalist and a medical examiner. Even though they’re busy on their fields, they always made it a point to see each other on their Saturday Club. Friendship that started from comparing notes to help one another to solve a case…
The Women’s Murder Club Series:
1st To Die
2nd Chance
3rd Degree
4th Of July
5th Horseman
6th Target
7th Heaven (to be released on 2008)
I was just looking for an update for the latest book of this series and came to see that the TV series will have its premier on October 12, 2007. I got excited watching the sneak preview until I’ve found out that its not available here in the Philippines. So I guess I’ll visit youtube frequently and hoping to watch the premier episode. I don’t have any idea of the actresses who portrayed the roles, I just hope that they portrayed them accordingly.
UPDATE: This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation.
Since I call myself a newbie here, I’ve been browsing a lot looking for traffic help and saw Courtney’s site. I’m also just wondering if everyone still follows until now considering that Colleen’s entry was April 12, 2007. So I’ve decided to join the movement and comment reasonably on every blog as much as I could.
I don’t have the Do-Follow plugin like Colleen. I don’t think the dofollow plugin will worked on wordpress.com since mine is a “free” blog. As respect to the originals, I’ve included the originals of Colleen and new addition from Courtney’s list. So here it goes…
1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra link back.
2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.
3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.
4. Add at least 1 new blog that you KNOW is using the DO FOLLOW plugin to the list in the “My Adds” section. (Add no more than 5!) Let the people you’ve added know, so that they can keep the list going! (Link all the blogs in your post too!)
5. Leave relevant comments on the blogs listed and get a link back to your site thanks to Do Follow!
This mobile ebook article is primarily for the new generation of bookworms who doesn’t have computer or just want to have their txt file converted wherever, whenever they want even if they’re a hundred miles away from they’re desktop. I’m a big fan of this eBook Maker application, can’t even decide on what mobile phone should I buy next because it might not be compatible. I hope the developers could make a higher version that would work on other latest symbian phones nowadays. And since there are none, I’m still having a second thought on what latest phone should I buy or find another mobile application that works the same function.
eBook Maker is a free application for symbian phones. Special messages such as quotes or other important messages can be converted into an eBook. I frequently do this to back up important messages. There are other computer software available online but I’m concentrating more on mobile application as much as it can be.
There are ways to do this.
*Here’s the first option, a comprehensive step by step how to convert your messages into an eBook on your phone.
On your mobile, open the message you want to convert, click option then choose forward
Highlight the message then copy. Use the pen key and cursor to highlight the text, option > copy the message.
Go to main menu and click notes. Open a new note then paste the message. Copy other messages if you want and make necessary editing.
Send the note via Multimedia message, click close and choose “Saved to Draft”.
Open FExplorer 1.17, go to the main directory and click inbox folder. Lower version of FExplorer doesn’t have inbox folder so make sure that you have the latest version.
Locate the .txt file, copy the file and paste it to another folder. option > edit > copy > and paste ito to other folder. Close all unnecessary application especially if you have lower symbian phone model.
Open eBook Maker application > option > make book > locate the folder where you’ve pasted it, then click
It will ask you now where do you want the converted eBook to be saved, choose Library.
After conversion, eBook Maker will ask “Delete source file?”… choose yes or no. Even if you choose yes, you still have a copy at your notes, thats if you have plans of future editing.
Open eBook, the file should be in the Library. From the FExplorer or any third party file manager, the exact location of your eBook is E:\System\Apps\SW_Book\Library. Converted eBook filename can be change using FExplorer or any third party file manager.
**If you have other ebook file in txt format and want it converted to Aportis (prc), skip steps 1 to 6.
***The easiest way is to use Message Storer v1.02 application. Converting SMS/MMS file to txt format is as easy as ABC with this mobile application. Supported devices are Nokia 3230, Nokia 3650, Nokia 3660, Nokia 6260, Nokia 6600, Nokia 6620, Nokia 6630, Nokia 6670, Nokia 6680, Nokia 7610, Nokia 7650, Nokia N70, Nokia N90, Nokia N-Gage, Panasonic X700, Panasonic X800, Samsung SGH-D730, Sendo X, Siemens SX1.
eBook 1.03 is the first mobile ebooks application I’ve tried and tested. It is first supported by symbianware. It comes with a free eBook maker application. eBook allows reading books in eBook Aportis (.prc) or Palm Database (.pdb) format. You can change the font, font size, font color, background color, etc. You can also change the view layout. Compatible devices: Nokia 7650, 3650/3600, N-Gage/N-Gage QD, 6600, 3660/3620, 7610, 6620, 6670, 6260, 6630, 3230, 6680/6681, Panasonic x700/x701, Samsung SGH-D730, Siemens SX1, Sendo X.
Let’s get started…
I assumed that this application is compatible with your phone model, install the eBook 1.03 application to the phone’s memory card.
If this is the first time you installed the eBook application, open FExplorer, go to E:\System\Apps\SW_Book and create a folder “Library”. This is the location you should store all your prc and pdb eBoook files.
From the mobile phone’s main menu, open eBook 1.03. If you’ve already saved an ebook, you should see the file there.
Why do I like eBook 1.03?
I’ve mentioned earlier that eBook 1.03 reads PRC and PDB files, these files are smaller compared to other eBook formats. It is important if you have limited memory on your mmc. Eye strain? I usually spent 2-4 hours reading ebook on my phone. The first time I’ve used this application, I haven’t adjusted the application settings. The adjustments consists of font size and color, background color… this ebook application is “eye friendly”. It also has page scrolling feature for easy reading, no more clicking. Just make sure you haven’t fall asleep. hehehe.. You can also change the screen layout, the default is portrait or change it to landscape. How about the bookmark? If you exit the application, when opening it again… the eBook and the last page you previously close will be there. For additonal bookmark, you could also bookmark the page or if you remember the percent (%) or page you want, just simply navigate it.
