What Is Your IP Address?

Many times from my past articles that I mentioned about IP address without discussing briefly what it is. To advanced usage of mobile phones, knowing one’s IP address is indeed important in able to use mobile application intended for sharing files like Raccoon and Comobi.

IP stands for Internet Protocol, is a unique address that certain electronic devices use in order to identify and communicate with each other on a computer network utilizing the Internet Protocol standard. In laymans terms, it is sort of like a thumbmark of current connection, the location and other information of an IP address can be traced.

When I started blogging at wordpress.com, I stumbled on a blog that has a widget of current visitor’s flag. As a newbie that time, I was really fascinated on how that works and flattered seeing my flag on other blogs. It took me time to figure that out.

There’s also an instance that a spammer once accused me of deleting her comments which I didn’t approved for the reason of malicious, not related comments and pretending to be different persons but have the same IP address. Understanding IP address is important for this situation.

Upon digging deeply on IP address, I found out that there are many possibilities on manipulating IP address. I stumbled on a website and learned interesting things from their articles and tools. I’ve tried checking my ip with these reliable tools.

  • IP Location, Map and Details – If you want to know the location of a certain IP address and some information, you may enter the IP address and find it here.
  • Email Source IP Address – This tool displays the estimated location, an IP address of an email.

  • Visual Traceroute – This tool displays the mapped graphical location of a traceroute from the server to the requested IP address.

  • IP to Hostname Lookup – This tool displays the hostname of an IP address.
  • Hostname to IP Lookup – This tool displays the IP address of a hostname. I’ve tried www.ebooktechie.com and it display my IP address.

I've Been Plagiarized Again!

When I posted Make Raccoon Mobsite Password Protected, I checked on my technorati account if it was automatically pinged. I am aware that technorati is having their maintenance again, fans were gone again. Manual pinging is a regular habit after each article posting. Anyway, I noticed that I have an additional technorati authority.

When I checked on the link, the site had copied the whole post including my signature “glitch” at the end of the post. This was the third time I experienced copyblogging of my blog contents. But this time, I think this is sort of what other bloggers called as “auto content”… instant article from feed subscription.

Correct me if I’m wrong, I believe copying a part of the post is ok provided that the site linked back to the source site. I always do that for justification or additional information on my post, it doesn’t matter if its a dofollow or nofollow link. For me, linking back is showing respect to the intellectual property of the original writer.

I felt sad and angry at the same time, I commented to that site to delete my copied article on their site. Good thing that they’ve already deleted it. Plagiarism is a crime, I don’t want to be a victim again for the nth time. I will start using copyscape banner Page copy protected against web site content infringement by Copyscape again for easy checking. Actually, I forgot to place the banner when I moved to my own domain. Lesson learned again from blogging, I hope copybloggers will soon realize that the site they’ve copied will be penalized by Google and other search engine for duplicate contents. There is such thing as karma…

Searching For A Better Web Host

I’ve just renewed Mobile eBook’s hosting at GoDaddy yesterday for another 3 months. Actually, I have read many negative feedbacks regarding godaddy but the thing I like about godaddy is they have affordable plans and they accept monthly payments. When I decided to moved to my own domain early this year with a few balance from paypal, I didn’t know that I also need to get a web host. That time, all I can do was ask recommendations from my co-bloggers. Comparing each of them their positive view of view made me confuse in a way which one is better.

Searching for the best web hosting service is time consuming. Relying on recommendations sometimes end up cancelling the service without going through a certain research. A certain web host might be the best for a certain blogger but not to all bloggers simply because we have individual requirements on choosing a web host. I heard of some bloggers, changing their web host from time to time and eventually stop moving when they already found the best web host for them. Migrating files is also time consuming, maybe the best way on choosing the right one is to test the service.

Why am I making this post now? Simply because I’m thinking of moving to another web host. Sad to say, I’m not happy with my current host’s customer support. Good thing that they have monthly rates which is my primary requirement for 150GB space. I’ve tried searching for the best web host place suitable for me, perhaps a comparison of web hosts. After reading some articles I found informative, I guess I made a choice where to move before my web host expires. A simple advice is to equipped yourself with enough information before moving.

Entrecard Launched Official eBook

Entrecard eBook on mobile

Its been a while since I made my last post regarding Entrecard. Entrecard came out with new awesome features. The linked blog feature allows entrecard users to add multiple blogs to their account. This is good news to bloggers who have multiple blogs, no need to sign out and sign in back again to another account just to drop cards. I’ve already linked my personal blog, its so easy to use now. The switch link can be found at the upper right side, beside the email address. No need to clear cookies now and sending credits to my other blog is just a click.

Anyway, entrecard will be giving away a total of 75,000 credits to people who add new blogs to their accounts, 15,000 for every bracket below. Since I already added my personal blog, I qualify for 2-5 blogs.

  • 2-5 blogs in account
  • 5-10 blogs in account
  • 10-15 blogs in account
  • 15-20 blogs in account
  • 20-25 blogs in account

Another good news is Entrecard launched their official ebook. Should you be a beginner or you may want to know other information about entrecard, you may find it interesting. Click here to download the pdf format ebook. I also converted the file to repligo format so that I can read it on my mobile during my free time and share it here. And here is the repligo format.

Time Stamp At Blogspot

I was too busy lately with my kids, its summer and school vacation in the Philippines. Last March, I was thinking of how can I update my personal blog during summer since time stamp is not a problem here at Mobile eBook Etc on wordpress. Actually, I’m still thinking if migrating my other blog here at wordpress is a good idea but permalink will be a problem. I want to maintain the same links I have there so readers will not be lost.

Going back, time stamp is the term commonly used by wordpress bloggers, it is also known as scheduled post publishing. It means a blogger can already set a date when the entry should be posted. The usual routine for me at my personal blog is to have several drafts in my dashboard and I have to login to my account to publish an article. Just imagine if you’re in vacation, you have to left for a while just to publish your article. For me, scheduled post at blogspot is indeed good news. I just hope that they will be more improvements to come.
