My Entrecard Image Was Plagiarized

Image thief! My new Entrecard Avatar?!

If you happen to be on your regular Entrecard dropping and you saw your own avatar or image and edited for someone else use, what would you think? On my blog hopping yesterday, at first glance, I thought its mine but its NOT. I’m stunned. This is the first image I uploaded to Entrecard, the image I use to some forums, my gravatar, my phone’s Opera background. Somehow, I have a deep attachment to this image, I see it everyday on my mobile and internet.

Giving the benefit of the doubt, I sent a private message to the owner of this blog through Entrecard but to no avail. If its for Entrecard purpose that my image was plagiarized, I don’t think its fair. Entrecard image serves as business card. I’m not sure if its against EC’s TOS either but it is still my image. Plagiarism is a crime!

ec_ebooktechie Come to think of it. I am a 4-digit EC member, that blog is a 6-digit EC member meaning I’m a member way ahead of him. Its impossible not see me on EC category Computers and Internet that we both belong. I don’t think this is link baiting since he already have a PR3 blog and I’m still working on regaining my PR. Whatever reason he has, I’m not happy that my image was stolen. I’m not flattered either.

I take this opportunity to thank my EC top droppers. As you can see, I seldom post linklove for my top droppers but today is my birthday. Guys, please check out EC community if your image was plagiarized.

Click A Google Ad?

Being an entrecard member somehow have some disadvantages. I don’t want to enumerate these things but I want to point out something about Google Adsense.

To those who didn’t use Entrecard, Entrecard have a feature called Messagebox wherein we can send private message to any entrecard member. I’ve been a long time member of Entrecard, its normal to received messages especially if someone asks you to be a contest sponsor, if you’re holding a contest, a thank you note for advert, things like that. Its unusual for me to received messages that they’ve clicked on my ads and they hope that I will do the same to their blog.

The first time I received almost the same message, I ignored it and never drop by to that site. Normally, if I received a “normal” message from Entrecard, I usually reciprocate. I wonder if these guys read the Google Adsense’ Terms and Conditions which states in #5 that:

You shall not, and shall not authorize or encourage any third party to: (i) directly or indirectly generate queries, Referral Events, or impressions of or clicks on any Ad, Link, Search Result, or Referral Button (including without limitation by clicking on “play” for any video Ad) through any automated, deceptive, fraudulent or other invalid means, including but not limited to through repeated manual clicks, the use of robots or other automated query tools and/or computer generated search requests, and/or the unauthorized use of other search engine optimization services and/or software.

Therefore it is strictly prohibited. Here’s another link for clearer information. Did you know that it took me over a year to received my first $100 from Google Adsense? For the record, I seldom used leaderboard and skyscrapper google ad. I don’t even have Adsense income during a month of absence with trojan on my blogs because they were not updated. Just a friendly advise, drive traffic to your frequently updated site and the rest will follow. My silence in this issue doesn’t means “yes“.

Although I didn’t report any of these messages to Entrecard, there is an abuse in the messaging system.

Entredroppers Kicked Me Out

I should have posted this the day I came back to blogging after a month of absence with trojan. When I installed entrecard toolbar and login to my ec account, I checked the entredropper list (started by Arnold). I didn’t choose to be problematic on my pc but in a way I felt bad not doing my daily routine which is ec dropping.

Few months ago, if there was an inactive dropper, I usually received a group email asking for a certain blogger why he/she didn’t participated… if he didn’t explained his side, he will be removed from the list. But I didn’t received any email. And I learned that I’m not listed anymore.

In a way, looking at the brighter side… I’m not obliged anymore to drop on the list which some of them are not as active as I did before. I’m stress free now from entrecard dropping but it doesn’t mean that I stopped my entrecard principle, “You Drop, I Follow“. I do follow whoever drops on my ec widget and I find it fair enough, reciprocating to my “actual droppers“.

Since I’m AWOL (absence without leave) for a month, I’m surprised to see that I still have perfect droppers on my site. I’ve stopped linking my top droppers few months ago. I’m in a good mood now to say thank you to my top droppers.

Watch out for my good mood again because I’m NOT doing this every end of the month. Cheers!

Happy Halloween To My Top Droppers!

Do you still link your top droppers as I am still doing? There are some I know that have had stop linking their top droppers. Actually, I might or might not stop doing this. First, dropping entrecard daily stressed me a lot and consume most of my valuable blogging time. As I’ve mentioned to my previous blogging entries, I’m a part time blogger and have limited time on blogging. Second, no matter how I religiously drop and reciprocate, there’s a small percentage like me who made posts for their top droppers to link on them… its tiring already that they didn’t link on my blogs.

Two valid reasons that I hope you will understand. I can’t promise if I can still do this next month. Here’s my top ten Entrecard top droppers for the month of October. Happy Halloween!

Entrecard Credit Transfer Glitch

I don’t have plan of writing about entrecard this early, I do write about Entrecard every end of the month and thank my top droppers at the same time. I already sent 300 ec credits each to 3 top winners, see image below:

Please take note of the date, Oct. 1. I tried sending 2 x 300 = 600 and 2 x 200 = 400 , a total of 1000 ec credit this morning. I’m aware of the maximum transfer of 1000 ec credit or 14 transfer a week, whichever comes higher… but my last transfer was Oct. 1, how come I cannot transfer EC credits now? I still have to transfer 2,000 ec credits to contest participants.

This is the first time I have a contest, I’m having second thoughts on running contests again in the future. With this glitch, I thought how can I make it possible to make EC credits as prizes. Take note that the contest runs for only 2 weeks (Glitch Anniversary Contest) and ended last Sept. 30, winners are announced in October 1 (Anniversary Contest Winners) and Entrecard started cutting the transfer in Sept 29.

To the participants, everyone were listed and I never forget that I owe you. I consider this as a small contest and tried handling the transfer myself but the “transfer glitch” is beyond my control. My apologies.

What to do in this situation?

Users running large contests should contact support via their dashboard – I’m still waiting for their response, all I need is to transfer 2,000 entrecard credits for this week.

Update 10.14.08: EC credits were sent through admin Ben Barden. It is advisable to contact Entrecard admin on your ec dashboard. No replied received from Rose, the contest coordinator. I’m glad, problem solved.
