Mobile Ready Your Blog

Never in my wildest dream that the world of mobile technology will reach its present status now. Making a wap site before is like an ego booster… a hobby… an outlet… a lifestyle. Today, mobile users accessing wapsites using their handheld device is still growing especially after the launch of iPhone 3G err… that’s mobile lifestyle indeed.

Wapsites before such as wap forum, moblog (mobile blog), download portals among other wapsites tend to plagiarized contents from websites, web forums and blogs. The good thing is PageRank applies to wap using Yahoo and Google wap search. Technically, if the websites are indexed by search engines with PageRank, no problem with that except for duplicate content. We still enjoy traffic from mobile users.

From the mobile users point of view, if a person go to a website loaded with images, widgets, chances are the mobile browser will be closed because of limited cache compared to PC capability. Sometimes, it would never stop from loading. Looking at their limited needs including myself, this is the main reason why I use a simple template. Although there’s no guarantee that if the site loads faster in the computer it would do the same on wap sites. And remember that wap users have limited visibility because of their mobile screen. But either way, the template would help.

The good thing with wordpress as my blogging platform, there are plugins we can use to mobile ready our blog. Basically, wapsites are XML and wordpress is PHP codes, plugin handles the script. The image below shows how my blog would look like using WordPress Mobile Edition plugin. No need to make a separate wapsite with same content. Remember, duplicate contents are penalized by Big G. It is also possible to earn from wap visitors by making our wordpress blog a mobile ready blog.

We are doing our best to make quality content, I heard it somewhere that “quality is king.” I thought, what’s the use of quality blog if its hard to read or not accessible on mobile phones, iPhone, PPC, PDA and other handheld devices regardless if you’re not a tech blog or mobile related blog. My blogs are WAP ready or should I say mobile ready wordpress blogs. How about yours?

Automatic Upgrade To WordPress 2.6.1

I’ve devoted my time migrating glitchline to wordpress. I could say that its ok at the moment although I still have things to do on that blog. Anyway, WordPress 2.6.1 is released, it has minor bug fixes but we can still enjoy wordpress 2.6 if we want.

2.6.1 offers several improvements for international users. Styling of the admin for right-to-left languages is much improved thanks to the efforts of the Farsi and Hebrew translation teams, and a mysterious gettext bug caused by certain PHP configurations is now fixed. For IIS users, 2.6.1 fixes several permalink problems. Image insertion problems in the Press This feature experienced by IE users are also fixed. Of note to everyone is a fix for a performance bug in the admin where those with a lot of plugins would experience slowness on some pages. -taken here.

I’m actually waiting for another updated wordpress version to test a plugin I installed two weeks ago. The said plugin, WordPress Automatic Upgrade 1.2.1 had various negative feedbacks but it is now fix on their latest version 1.2.1 released last July 18. It did wonders on upgrading my two blogs, hassle free.

Instead of seeing a display note “WordPress 2.6.1 is available! Please update now” on your wp admin panel, another bar below will display “Click Here to Automatically Upgrade WordPress to latest Version.” Its easy, no need to be a geek to upgrade a wordpress blog. Just click and follow the prompt, download database (for back up) if you want. WordPress Automatic Upgrade 1.3 will be coming soon especially now, a perfect combination for latest release of wordpress 2.6.1. Now, my addiction to upgrading my wordpress version is healed. LOL

Glitch On Comments

If you’re a regular of this blog, I dunno if you noticed that the akismet widget is showing on my site again. This is to monitor my spam even if I’m not login. When this blog is in wordpress.com, I usually received a minimum of 100 spam daily. Of course, it did gave me a terrible headache when I moved to a new domain and host. They’ve followed me here but akismet still working great to handle them.

I’ll be making a comment policy soon on this blog, this post will serve the same purpose for the meantime. The blog Mobile eBooks is using a dofollow plugin, however I’ve placed a rel=”nofollow” code to articles with excessive links to avoid Big G of branding my blog as a link farm. Other articles remain as dofollow.

My blog tackles anything I came up with blogging, mobile ebooks, mobile application, ebook conversion, computer software (related to ebook) and other mobile techie stuff. All comments are moderated from the start.

I’ve installed top commentator widget last week and resets on monthly basis. I still have flaws on my template customization and its not possible that the number of comments will be shown as of the moment. Top commentators, of course are dofollow and will help my commentators increase their ranking and technorati authority plus their exposure on this blog.

I’ve also installed the commentluv plugin which I love very much on the blogs I visit frequently. However, it will not follow until you’ve reach a certain number of comments here, but the link of your latest entry is still there if you provide your web/blog url. Please be warned that on this blog, I’m looking for quality comments related to the article that will help each other accordingly. Provided that you post a quality comment but I dislike your recent entry, I will delete the link and the comment remains. What are these links? To make it clear, links from adult site, gambling or hate related site will be deleted. If you wish to tell me something, feel free to email me at ebooktechie@gmail.com.

Tagging is allowed on this blog provided that the meme is related to my blog’s contents, otherwise I’ll be making the tag on my personal blog. I also allow out of topic comments but avoid making it look like “spam”. I love comments and I hope i made myself clear. Should you have any “violent reactions” regarding the issue, let me know.
